Talking Letters Program

The Talking Letters Program is designed as an interactive way to teach young children to associate a letter's sound with its shape. Each letter has a colorful character associated with it, and an adventure story that explains its shape and the appropriate sound. Once the sounds are learned, these children can begin to recognize the letters, and sound out words on their own. You can see that it is a perfect program for both auditory and visual learners.

The core of the Talking Letters Program comes to you in the form of an interactive video tape or DVD. Acclaimed Mountainwood Learning Center teachers, Cathy Caughman and Linda McGann will guide your child through the whimsical tales of "little lady" "little man" and all their friends. They will encourage them to listen and repeat the sounds of the letters and give word picture examples of those sounds in use. You will be amazed at how quickly your child will begin putting these lessons into practice.

A set of story cards is included so that you can work directly with your child. The "talking letter" is on one side, the story is on the other. Six cards have been added to the original 26 alphabet cards. These cards include the sounds of 'sh', 'ch', 'th', 'wh', 'oo', and 'ow'.

A beautiful color poster of the "talking letters" is also included. Hang this on the wall and let your child repeat the sounds and tell you the stories by themselves. You can even encourage them to make up new stories of their own.

And finally we have included 2 workbooks that reinforce consonant and short vowel sounds, blends, sight words, double syllables, dipthongs, and words ending in 'y', 'le', and 'er'. Also introduced is practice with long vowels, two vowels together, and sounds of 'oo', 'ur', 'ir', 'ar', 'or', 'ow', and 'ou'.
As an added bonus for moms and dads, the cover letter inside your talking letters package has a list of suggestions and tips on how you and your child can get the most out of the Mountainwood Talking Letters Program.
